Clinical Placement
Introduction
The Clinical Placement section of the program is your opportunity to put the knowledge and skills you've learned in class to practice in an actual work setting! You will be matched up with one of our fantastic host facilities to learn on-site working side-by-side with full-time Personal Support Workers, assisting people of various ages and health conditions.
A major change in the new PSW 2015 curriculum is the ability for students to conduct part of your placement concurrently with your classes, allowing you to bring more real-life experiences with you into the classroom and enhance the entire learning process. Hours
Total Hours; 310 Hours
- 110 Hours - Community Placement (i.e. Retirement Residences)
- 200 Hours - Long-Term Care Facility (i.e. Nursing Home)
- Note: Students may apply for Advanced Credits where applicable. Please see the Advanced Credits Section for more information.
Requirements
General:
- Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Check

- Medical Check
- Valid Standard First-Aid & CPR (within 1 year of certification)

Community Placement
- General Requirements must be satisfied
- Must satisfactorily complete Modules 1 and 2 prior to Community Placement
Long-Term Care Facility Placement
- General Requirements must be satisfied
- Must satisfactorily complete all 12 Theory Modules prior to LTC Placement
