Personal Support Worker DE
Program Overview
The Personal Support Worker (PSW) program prepares students for a rewarding career in healthcare, providing essential care and support to individuals who require assistance with daily living activities.
This Hybrid program emphasizes holistic learning, where students gain the practical skills necessary to support clients of all ages, from children to the elderly and offer compassionate care that improves the quality of life for individuals facing physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges in a variety of settings, including homes, long-term care facilities, and hospitals.
Program Length
The PSW program is 700 hours in length, including Online Learning Theory and Skills Practice, Clinical Placement and a NACC Final Examination. Ask us about our flexible class schedules.
Theory (Online Learning)
Learn the fundamental knowledge and skills of a Personal Support Worker (PSW) through 400 hours covering 13 exciting modules:
PSW Foundations
Safety & Mobility
Body Systems
Assisting with Personal Hygiene
Abuse and Neglect
Household Management, Nutrition and Hydration
Care Planning, Restorative Care, Documentation and the Community
Assisting the Family, Growth and Development
Assisting the Dying Person
Assisting with Medications
Cognitive and Mental Health Issues
Health Conditions
Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) in Dementia Care
Clinical Placement
Further your training by utilizing your knowledge and skills with local seniors for 300 hours. Just let us know your availability and we will assign you to one of our great host facilities which include long-term care facilities and retirement homes.
Upon Completion
Once completed, graduates will earn the following credentials necessary for working as a PSW:
