Mod 04 Performance Demonstration
Instructions
For this demonstration you will be asked to come to the College for skills practice and an evaluated performance demonstration with the instructor.
Please read all of the instructions below to ensure that you are fully prepared prior to attending the in-person class.
Part 1: Preparation
Prior to attending the class, we ask that you review all of the following videos. We will have limited time in the class and need to have every student prepared to start practicing the skills immediately. Watch each video below, review the procedures in your textbook and take notes as needed.
Note: You will only be able to stream the videos and NOT Download them
Required (You may be tested on these skills, depending on the scenario you are given below)
Recommended (Will not be tested on, but should review for knowledge)
Assisting with a Tub Bath or Shower
Making a Surgical Bed
Brushing and Combing the Person’s Hair
Shaving the Person’s Face
Giving Nail and Foot Care
Part 2: Questions and Concerns
If you have any questions or concerns about this evaluation, we will be having an information session on the following dates for your specific class:
B39 (Saturdays) - Thurs Nov 19, 2020 @ 8pm-9pm
B40 (Sundays) - Wed Nov 18, 2020 @ 8pm-9pm

Part 3: Practice
You will be given a few hours to practice the skills covered in the textbook and videos prior to the evaluated performance demonstrations.
B39 (Saturdays) - Start at 9am
B40 (Sundays)
9am Start: Marjorie, Saturnina, Christine, Jennifer, Bella
1pm Start: Leonora, Adoracion, Elma, Marilyn, Fe, Maricil
Part 4: Scenarios
For your performance demonstration you will be randomly given one of the following scenarios to perform: Please be prepared to perform all of them.
Your client is a 90-year-old female. She is deaf. She has dentures and a hearing aide. She is paralyzed on the left side. She is not confused. She requires hygienic care including a bed bath and making an occupied bed.
Your client is a 42-year-old male. He has acquired brain injury resulting from a car accident. He has an IV to keep vein open (TKVO). He can only sit for short periods of time, remains in bed and has limited use of his extremities. His care plan requires him to be given hygiene care including a sponge bath and making an occupied bed.
A young mother is recovering from a radical hysterectomy with post- operative complications (infection). She is very tired and in pain. She does not like to sit up or move but would like her hair washed. Her care plan requires her to be given hygiene care including a bed bath and making an occupied bed.
Part 5: Performance Demonstration
You will be given approximately 20-30 mins to complete the scenario. Consider the following:
Prepare environment and materials
Apply safety measures
Communicate with client
Demonstrate correct procedures
Discuss in response to instructor’s questions, how you would adapt to differences in scenarios?
